With the launching of its Premier Suites on June 17, DLSHSI’s De La Salle University Medical Center is promising to provide the best medical care that patients deserve.

Located on the third floor of DLSUMC’s Rivero Building (Bldg 3), the Premier Suites line is composed of two Prime Suites and eight Executive Suites which were designed to provide patients with a first class, homey, and relaxed healing environment so that patients, along with their families will have comfort and privacy while recuperating. The construction of the tastefully decorated interiors, including the furnishing of the rooms, was fully funded by Lasallian donors, composed of DLSUMC doctors and a DLSHSI trustee. Thus, each room is identified by a nameplate carrying the name of the donor or a dedication marker. Proceeds from the rooms will be allocated for the care of DLSUMC’s charity patients.

During the blessing of the rooms, DLSHSI President Br. Gus Boquer FSC expressed gratitude to the donors: “Know that what we give to God, regardless of how much it is, will come back to all of you. God will never forget those of you who have done this. We may forget you but God will never ever forget you. That is why your names are perpetuated here.”

On behalf of the donors, DLSHSI Vice Chancellor for Lasallian Mission and Linkage Dr. Charles Yu, who donated for one of the Prime Suites, promised to continue to take care of the rooms and ensure that the patients who will use it will get the promised quality of care. “Our commitment does not end by putting that name in the wall, but in making sure that in the days and years to come, these rooms will be as good as you see them today. That is our promise. This is just the beginning and we have to prove that in this nice environment, we can also provide the best service to people,” said Dr. Yu.

He also narrated how this project was initiated. “Br. Gus asked me to draw a list of people who can donate and will not say no. And he told me that I am one of them. I remember what Brother Gus told me that day: it is when it is the hardest that it is the best time to give. When you give and it hurts it means you do charity,” he recalled.

Br. Gus also promised to the DLSHSI community that he will continue to work hard to improve further the services of the hospital. “All the floors of the entire hospital will be upgraded and there will be state of the art equipment, facilities, and more charity beds for the patients.”

As always, Br. Gus finished by offering glory to God, ensuring that everyone knows that every milestone of the hospital is for the service of the poor, a service that God wants the community to do. He quoted the prophet Habakkuk: “Lord the work is yours.”
