Buoyed by the support of their school mates who came en masse to the De La Salle Animo Center, the Fiat Lux Academe Music Enthusiasts Society (FLAMES) emerged as this year’s champion in the 2nd DLSHSI Chorale Singing Competition.
FLAMES bested five other schools in the competition to receive the champion cash prize of Php10,000.00 and trophy. Runners-up were the Dasmariñas East National High School (1st runner-up) and the Imus Institute Chorale (2nd runner-up). They each received trophies and cash prizes of Php 8,000.00 and Php 6,000.00, respectively.
The following special awards were also given to the winning choirs:
Best in Choreography: St. Augustine School Chorale
Best in Costume: FLAMES
Best Conductor: Michael Louie B. Renacido of FLAMES
Fiat’s FLAMES also received a special cash prize for having the most number of supporters in the audience.
The contestants performed a prescribed contest piece and a song of their choice. The contest piece this year was Gerry De Leon “Ang Huling Kundiman,” especially arranged for the competition by DLSHSI’s very own Dr. Julius Caezar Reyes of the College of Medicine.
Held on January 23, during the celebration of DLSHSI’s Lasallian Days, the competition brings together the best high school-based chorales in Region IV-A.
