Inspired by the address of their now co-alumnus Dr. Gerardo S. Manzo, two-hundred eight (208) new doctors were conferred the Doctor of Medicine degree by DLSHSI President Br. Gus Boquer FSC during the Commencement Exercises held at the Animo Center on April 25.

A member of Medicine Class ‘84, Dr. Manzo is the Chief Medical Officer of the Philippine Heart Center and Assistant Professor of Surgery at DLSHSI’s College of Medicine.

In his speech, he emphasized the sacrifices that the new graduates will need to do after graduation. “You were chosen to be a doctor, to be able to serve other people. Do you know what comes after graduation? We become a Senior Intern or an M.D., and after that Physician Licensure Examination. You also need to invest more time to study. Some of you will dedicate their life to basic sciences, teaching, working and living a decent life but what is important is that your goal should be to heal.”
