Two new Academic units signing in

The Academics has created two (2) new units to develop innovative graduate education and internationalization initiatives.

The Graduate Studies in Medical and Health Sciences pursues the growth, development, quality, and continuation of graduate programs and graduate education at DLSMHSI. It works with other Academic colleges and departments to realize the Institute’s goal to become a research-enhanced comprehensive institution.

The Center for Internationalization and Academic Affiliations and Engagements supports the internationalization initiatives of the Academics, with special emphasis on curricular and co-curricular international education initiatives. These include on-line academic courses, international residential, training and leadership programs and international academic affiliations.


College of Medicine holds Inter-professionalism Education Workshop

The College of Medicine Innovative Programs and Graduate Studies Inter-professionalism Education Unit hosted the Inter-professionalism Education Workshop on June 22-23, 2019 at Abagatan Ti Manila Hotel and Events Place, Alfonso, Cavite. The different inter-professional education (IPE) competencies were discussed, such as background of IPE, values/ethics, inter-professional roles and responsibilities, communication skills and inter-professional team collaboration.


DLSMHSI prepares for ISO certification

As part of its commitment to develop a high-quality workplace with sound customer service and sustainable initiatives, DLSMHSI has started the groundwork to become certified for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems. The Presidential Management held a 2-part orientation/workshop on June 3, 2019 at DLS Villarosa Convention Hall and on June 25-26, 2019 at Lake Hotel, Tagaytay City attended by all administrators of the different Services. The participants received an orientation on ISO 9001:2015, the responsibility matrix, the strategic plan, and the future agenda and timelines leading to the actual visit of the certifying body.


Mental health awareness seminar conducted for continuing professional education 

The Center for Innovative Education and Technology Integration conducted a seminar themed “Taking Mental Health Issues Seriously: Awareness, Detection and Intervention” on June 14, 2019 at DLS Villarosa Convention Hall. The keynote speaker, Violeta Villaroman-Bautista, PhD, RGC, RP, C CI.P, discussed how mental health could be cared for. The seminar was attended by professionals and granted with continuing professional development points by various professional councils.

ATF/ASF Research Publications

Among 66 Academic Teaching and Service Faculty (ATF and ASF) with published papers in journals, 40 are Full Time and 26 are Part Time. Out of 339 Full Time ATF and ASF, 40 (12%) are with published papers in journals (Scopus Indexed).

DLSMSHI is able to comply with one of the requirements of CHED for a University Status in the horizontal typology, which is faculty involvement in research.

  • BS Biochemistry student Monil Baghadia bagged the grand prize during the 5th Multidisciplinary Research Forum held on May 17, 2019 at DLS Villarosa Convention Hall for his research Angopsuppressive Effect of the Ethanolic Extracts of Calocybe  indica and Pleurotus ostreatus in Combination with Paclitaxel on Duch Chorioallantoic Membrane. The activity was organized by the PCHRD-Health Research and Development Consortium (Region IV-A).
