John 15:26-16:1

Date posted: May 18, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 15:26-16:1
Jesus said to his disciples: "When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of
truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with
me from the beginning. I have told you this so that you may not fall away.”

Reflection
The gospel reminds us that we are Jesus’ witnesses. St. Francis of Assisi once told, that we are to preach
by our lives, only occasionally in words. If we are transformed by God let others say that we are indeed
transformed because our way of life testifies to it. How are we going to testify the power of God in this
COVID-19 pandemic?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “In De La Salle’s thinking, faith and zeal are inseparable, two dimensions of one spirit.”
St. John Baptist De La Salle put everything He does from God. As he said, “If my work does not come from
God, I would consent to its ruin. I would join our enemies in destroying it if I thought that it did not have
God for its author, or that he did not will its progress.” Just like what Jesus is telling us in the gospel “that
our faith shall not be shaken”. Faith with zeal in action is one of the main purposes of our existence.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!

St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
