John 15:5-7

Date posted: May 13, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 15:5-7
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for
apart from me you can do nothing. If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers;
and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in
you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

Reflection
The gospel tells us that Jesus offers true life – the abundant life which comes from God that results in great
abundance. How does the vine become fruitful? There is a simple truth here, we are either fruit-bearing or
non-fruit-bearing. There is no in-between. But the bearing of healthy fruit requires drastic pruning. The Lord
promises that we will bear much fruit if we abide in him and allow him to purify us. How trusting are you in
the Lord’s healing and transforming power to give you an abundant life?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, Zeal is “a passionate commitment to realize God’s will which, in Lasallian terms, is the
integral liberation and salvation of all, especially the youth and the poor.” We cannot separate these two
core values, zeal and faith. When zeal runs out of reasons to go on, faith comes in. As Lasallians, we are
challenged to be the witnesses of true life offered to us by Jesus. Let us spread this message to all people
entrusted to our care.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
