John 17:1-3

Date posted: May 26, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 17:1-3
Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your
son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to all
you gave him. Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you
sent, Jesus Christ.”

Reflection
In the gospel, Jesus shows to us that His love and His Father’s love for him are unending. Jesus’ mission
is to teach us how to understand God and glorify Him until the end. Saint Augustine said: “Understanding
is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand that thou may believe, but believe thou may
understand.” May we seek God in our life so we may able to understand and keep our faith in Him. How
can we keep our faith in God?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Zeal is the expression of faith in service to human need.” In the gospel, Jesus shows us
selfless love and mercy and calls us to believe and keep the faith until the end. As Lasallians, we should
continuously believe in God which means we need to commit or change our ways to what is according to
God’s will. We may encounter several challenges and countless trials but we must never let it win over our
faith.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
