Luke 11, 5-13

Date posted: October 8, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11, 5-13
Jesus said to his disciples: “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three
loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him,’
and he says in reply from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I are already in
bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’
I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence.
And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Reflection
The gospel tells us that prayer is the fruit of faith. Prayer is an act of supplication to God. Supplication emphasizes
persistence, simplicity, and humility. That is why, one needs to ask, seek, and knock. Do you believe in the power of prayer?
What are your intense experience of prayer in this trying times?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith provides an opportunity to discover God’s dynamic presence through his Words.
Generosity radiates God’s steadfast love for humanity. Persistence in prayer directs the person to fathom God’s mystery.
One does able to recognize God through faith. As Lasallians, we need to be persistent in prayer as what the friend did in the
gospel. Let us allow ourselves to be immersed in prayer so that our lives may be guided in the eyes of faith.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
