Luke 13, 10-17

Date posted: October 26, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 13, 10-17
Jesus was teaching in a synagogue on the sabbath.
And a woman was there who for eighteen years had been crippled by a spirit; she was bent over, completely incapable of
standing erect. When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, “Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.” He laid his hands
on her, and she at once stood up straight and glorified God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant that Jesus had cured
on the sabbath, said to the crowd in reply, “There are six days when work should be done. Come on those days to be cured,
not on the sabbath day.” The Lord said to him in reply, “Hypocrites! Does not each one of you on the sabbath untie his ox or
his ass from the manger and lead it out for watering? This daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound for eighteen years
now, ought she not to have been set free on the sabbath day from this bondage?” When he said this, all his adversaries were
humiliated; and the whole crowd rejoiced at all the splendid deeds done by him.

Reflection
The gospel tells about the fullness of life in Christ. The healing experienced by the woman led her to life’s fullness in Christ. It
is in spiritual and physical healing that God allows us to be free from sin. That one’s life must live fully in Christ and for Christ.
Not bounded by man’s superficial law. Are there healing moments in my life? Where is it coming from?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan. The healing
experience of that woman brings her life back God. It is God’s mercy and compassion that led us to conversion and healing.
As Lasallians, we need to acknowledge our frailty to receive healing and God’s unfathomable mercy. Let us allow ourselves to
be witnesses of God’s mercy and compassion to all.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
