Luke 14, 15-24

Date posted: November 3, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 14, 15-24
One of those at table with Jesus said to him, “Blessed is the one who will dine in the kingdom of God.”
He replied to him, “A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many. When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his
servant to say to those invited, ‘Come, everything is now ready.’ But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves. The
first said to him, ‘I have purchased a field and must go to examine it; I ask you, consider me excused.’ And another said, ‘I
have purchased five yoke of oxen and am on my way to evaluate them; I ask you, consider me excused.’ And another said, ‘I
have just married a woman, and therefore I cannot come.’ The servant went and reported this to his master. Then the master
of the house in a rage commanded his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the
poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ The servant reported, ‘Sir, your orders have been carried out and still there is
room.’ The master then ordered the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home
may be filled. For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.'”

Reflection
The gospel tells about the kind of response to Jesus’ invitation. It is evident that property, work, and relationships hinders the
invited guest to say no to that invitation. Obsession with material things consumes everything than the main priority. Up to the
point of exerting more time for material wealth, outstanding careers, and extravagant relationships yet no time for God. How
do I spend my time with God?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the “spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in men and
women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves.” Spending time with God lead us to holiness. We must prioritize
God in our lives. Nonetheless, saying yes to God’s invitation overpowers al that is physical and material. As Lasallians, we
need to say yes to God immediately with no hesitation and reservation. Let us allow ourselves to meet God in the banquet
together with the poor and the marginalized for theirs is the Kingdom of God.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
