Luke 1:57-65

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 1:57-65
When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, “No. He will be called John.” But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.” So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God.

Reflection
In the Gospel, God blessed Elizabeth and Zechariah with child named John which means “the Lord
is gracious.” Elizabeth and Zechariah led a life of integrity and kindness which later on came with a blessing. God works in “mysterious ways” so we must always have faith in what He has planned for us and live a life of integrity and honor. What is one of those “mysterious ways” of God that you have experienced?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “The goal of social development interventions is to preserve and bring forth the fullness of life.” Just like what the people asked in the gospel “What, then, will this child be?”, we must remember that we should recognize and respect all forms of life because it is important for our actions to be life-affirming. We should have strong moral principles in order for us to live an honest and honorable life. As Lasallians, we must work as one to help alleviate their (poor) suffering because God has promised a life that is full for everyone.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
