Luke 18, 35-43

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 18, 35-43
As Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what
was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!” Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, what do you want me to do for you? He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.

Reflection
The gospel shows the beggar’s faith, insisting Jesus to heal him in the midst the crowd. It is through his faith that he received
total healing. Knowing that by begging and calling with persistence and sincerity “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
receives the healing. Do I still implore God? In what ways do I consider myself a beggar in asking God’s grace?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.”
All of us are considered as beggars that are totally in need of God’s aid. As Lasallians, we need to imitate the attitude of a
beggar insisting God’s help for our sake and for others. Let us allow ourselves to be humble and grateful for the gift of faith.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
