Luke 19, 41-44

Date posted: November 19, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 19, 41-44
As Jesus drew near Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace–but
now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they
will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not
leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

Reflection
The gospel tells about Jesus’ martyrdom at Jerusalem. Jerusalem in Hebrew is called the “City of peace “however, in old days
it is a violent city where prophets meet their death. And so with Jesus’, in fulfilling the prophecy, as what had happened to the
prophets before Him. Am I ready to be a modern prophet?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.”
As Lasallians, we need to be faithful to our baptism. It is in baptism that we partake Christ’s threefold function, Priest to offer
sacrifices for the people, King as the true servant and leader, and Prophet to practice what he preach fearlessly. Let us allow
ourselves to be the modern prophets in this time to offer our lives as what Jesus did for the salvation of all.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.

Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
