Luke 6, 39-42

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 6, 39-42
Jesus told his disciples a parable: “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.”

Reflection
The Gospel is telling us that the love of neighbour puts forward the love of self as its measure. Jesus uses humour to invite us to strive for personal integrity and relate others with all honesty in fulfilling the love for our neighbour as our self. Do I easily judge my neighbours?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in men and women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves.” As Lasallians, we need to accept our neighbors in spite of their
imperfection and strive to grow in self-knowledge forming in the spirit of humility. Let us allow ourselves to be like Jesus
seeing things with love.

Prayer
Synod on Synodality Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
