Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 6,6-11
On a certain sabbath, Jesus went into the synagogue and taught, and there was a man there whose right hand was withered. The scribes and the Pharisees watched him closely to see if he would cure on the sabbath so that they might discover a reason to accuse him. But he realized their intentions and said to the man with the withered hand, “Come up and stand before us.” And he rose and stood there. Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?” Looking around at them all, he then said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so and his hand was restored. But they became enraged and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.

Reflection
The Gospel tell us about Jesus’s disapproval of those who focus narrowly on the traditions and laws of religion and lose sight of God’s message. Jesus challenges the legalistic way of keeping the sabbath holy by asking, “is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?” By showing compassion to the man with the withered hand, He points us to a way of holiness that is more than keeping the law and performing rituals. By healing the man, Jesus teaches us to respond to God’s call to do good and save lives. Traditions should not interfere with our compassion for those in need, for “whoever knows what is right to do and fails to do it, for him, it is sin” (James 4:17). How do I become like Jesus for others?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.” St. John Baptist de La Salle wanted everyone to look at the world with faith, that the presence of God must be existing not just because we know he is there but because people have faith in him. Every person experiences God’s love in ways that are unexpected. Let us also share God’s love with other people.

Prayer
Synod on Synodality Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
