Luke 9, 46-50

September 26, 2022 (Monday)
Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9, 46-50
An argument arose among the disciples about which of them was the greatest. Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child and placed it by his side and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.” Then John said in reply, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow in our company." Jesus said to him, “Do not prevent him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”

Reflection
The Gospel is telling us Jesus’ gesture of placing before them a child inviting the disciples to go back to the essentials of their vocation rather than worldly allurements. Childlikeness is the true manifestation of greatness and Jesus’ perfect way of obedience whose trustworthiness is beyond doubt. Who is the greatest in my life?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to unite one’s actions to the ongoing saving action of God in the world.” As Lasallians, we need to form our hearts in childlikeness in seeing things rightly. Let us allow ourselves to be like Jesus seeing everything in the eyes of faith.

Prayer
Synod on Synodality Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
