Luke 9:18-20

Date posted: September 25, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9:18-20
Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do
the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others,
that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who
do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”

Reflection
The Gospel for today talks about identity. In the gospel, we heard the disciples saying different
names who were considered as great men in their times. But only Peter recognized that it was Jesus
the Messiah. Therefore, the challenge for us is to know more about the identity of our God, so that,
we will be able to recognize Him when He also appears in our lives. How well do you really know
God?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the “spirit of faith allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in
men and women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves.” Faith isn’t just a notion that
some people hold onto in tough times. As Lasallians, we must embody the spirit of faith because it
will help us to get us through, illuminating the pathway in times of darkness, helping us to get through
weakness. For without faith, we are nothing.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
