Luke 9,7-9

Date posted: September 21, 2022

September 22, 2022 (Thursday)
Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9,7-9
Now Herod the ruler heard about all that had taken place, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead, by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the ancient prophets had arisen. Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.

Reflection
The gospel is about Herod listening to the preaching a teaching of Jesus. Herod does not know how to place himself before
Jesus. He had killed John the Baptist and now he wants to see Jesus closer. Through the gift of grace we can know Jesus,
and our prayer is our communication with a friend, not with an acquaintance. We may think that it’s hard to acknowledge the novelty of Jesus, and sometimes may end up reducing him to an impersonation of somebody we know or have heard about. I pray to be constantly open to the miracles and mystery of Jesus, for me to know him better. May we recognize Him in the moments of grace, challenges and obstacles that come our way. May we also be open to see Him in other people we serve. Who is Jesus for me?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to judge and evaluate things in the light of the gospel.” As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan. As Lasallians, we nurture our belief in the loving presence of God in our world. Having deep relationship, faith, and awareness with God can strengthen our mind, determination, and passion. Let us allow ourselves to be true disciples that has faith-filled with desire to know Jesus and to grow in an ever- deepening relationship with him.

Prayer
Synod on Synodality Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
