Mark 3, 31-35

January 24, 2023 (Tuesday)
Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mark 3, 31-35
The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him.
A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers (and your sisters) are outside asking for you.”
But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and (my) brothers?”
And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.
(For) whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Reflection
Often, we hear the phrase “Brothers and Sisters in Christ”. This applies to the given gospel since we are all connected to each other through God who created us in His image and through Jesus who saved us from eternal damnation. This gives us the power to reach out to everybody regardless of religious beliefs. This is also the message of the Gospel; we are all children of God, in good times and in bad. We are all connected to one another though there may be times our connections are lost behind the lies of prejudice, discrimination, and indifference. We should not let those hindrances stop us from reaching out to those who are in need of our help. Who are my brothers in sisters in the community?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Every individual needs to be constantly exposed to or immersed in the pressing social problems to which we subsequently aim to contribute a resolution.” As brothers and sisters in this world we live in, we acknowledge our being as created in the image and likeness of our one true God. We share all the blessings showered upon us in everything we do, see, hear and possess. We learn to share, love, and forgiveness all that may come our way. We share everything we have to others, we love everyone as God loves us, and we forgive everyone as God forgives the sins we have done. And through this may we come together and grow like good citizens we were made to be patterned in the life of our founder St. John Baptist De La Salle.

Prayer
Synod on Synodality Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
