Matthew 12:38-40

Date posted: July 20, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 12:38-40
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” He said to
them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

Reflection
“Lord, please give me a sign.” A common phrase that we mostly hear in this modern generation. In today’s gospel, God told us that there will be no sign to be given except for the sign of the Prophet Jonah, a sign that the promise of God is near on its fulfillment. As Christ’s follower, we must trust God in His plan and not to rely on signs that tested our faith and trust in him. We must realize that everything that happens has its purpose and it will always for the good of all humanity. What signs have you received from God?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that,” Lasallian educational experiences are dynamic processes that impel learners to translate their knowledge into actual practice for the betterment of society.” This is a calling for all the Lasallians that needs no signs. What we need is our dedication to uphold the life of others especially those who felt lost because of what they are experiencing during this pandemic.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
