Matthew 14, 29-33

Date posted: August 3, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 14, 29-33
Jesus Walks on the Water
“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Reflection
The gospel for today talks about faith. Now, as we face the threat of COVID-19, many people started to lose faith. As Christians, we are challenged to free everyone from the spirit of darkness and fear. Together, let us seek for God’s grace and protection so that all of us will be saved. During the pandemic, how can we show our faith?

Lasallian Guiding Principles
LGP states that, “Lasallian learners are unique and gifted individuals who express concern and compassion for the plight of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of society and respond to their needs.” As Lasallians, we can consider this time as a perfect time to highlight the value of companionship with our fellow brothers and sisters, especially with frontliners who continually risk their lives for the community.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives. We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need. We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us! St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us! Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
