Matthew 15:24-28

Date posted: August 5, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 15:24-28
He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

Reflection
The gospel shows a woman with a great faith. She asked for “crumbs,” recognizing that even a crumb is powerful enough to defeat the demon that has possessed her daughter. And because of that, Jesus praises her faith and healed her daughter. Now that we are in the midst of fear because of the COVID-19, we are reminded by this gospel to keep our faith and continue to ask for God’s healing and compassion, and believe that at the right time, God will hear our prayers. Have you ever felt like you or your faith has been tested? How did it go?

Lasallian Guiding Principles
LGP states that, “Lasallian learners are unique and gifted individuals who express concern and compassion for the plight of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of society and respond to their needs.” As Lasallians, we can consider this time as a perfect time to highlight the value of companionship with our brothers & sisters, especially our dear frontliners who continually risk their lives for us to succeed in these trying times.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives. We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need. We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us! St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us! Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
