Matthew 21, 28-32

Date posted: December 15, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 21, 28-32
Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first
and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He said in reply, ‘I will not,’ but afterwards he changed his mind and
went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir,’ but did not go. Which of the two did
his father’s will?” They answered, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are
entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax
collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him.”

Reflection
The gospel presents the different responses made by the sons. The first one hesitated but went on doing his father’s wish and
the other one responded but did not went on to the vineyard. Jesus approved the response made by the first son which is
symbolic of the discriminated ones’ conversion. How did I respond this year? What concrete ways do I still need to do towards
conversion?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “As a member of a community, of the nation, and of the global village, Lasallian institutions must work in
solidarity with peoples and institutions that share the conviction in denouncing and working towards the elimination of unjust
practices…” As Lasallians, we need to promote God’ mercy, transform lives, and work together with joy. Let us allow
ourselves to remain humble and accept our frailty for in humility follows conversion and salvation.

MISSION PRAYER 2021 Year of Missio Ad Gentes CBCP
God, our loving Father, You sent your Son into the world to proclaim the Good News of Salvation to all: to sinners, the poor,
oppressed, the sick, the abandoned and neglected. He gave His life on the Cross for us and rose again to new life to redeem
us and reconcile us with you. You sent Your Holy Spirit to the Apostles to continue the work of Your Son and to lead all to
salvation. We thank you, Father, for bringing us from darkness into light. Through Your loving plan, 500 years ago, missionaries
came to our land to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus, Your Son, to our ancestors that made us your people and the Church. The
gift of faith has accompanied us through both darkness and lights, defeats and victories of our history as your people. Our faith
has become for us true light that shines in the darkness. Renew in us the grace of your Spirit that impels us to be witnesses of
Jesus, Your Son, to a world broken by greed, violence, injustice, sickness and suffering. May our faith bring us to unity as your
children to care for, and love one another. May the Holy Spirit empower us to be proclaimers of the Good News to our brothers
and sisters in Asia, and to all nations. Give us the sincere desire to help others to come to faith in the Lord Jesus to share in
your joy and life. May the Blessed Mother, the Star of Evangelization, accompany us and pray for us as we live and share our
faith with others. May our strong love and devotion to her as our Mahal na Ina form us to be true disciples and witnesses of
Jesus to all, always ready to be sent, and to be obedient to whatever Jesus asks of us. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your
Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
