Matthew 5:17-18

Date posted: June 10, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 5:17-18
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come
not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or
the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.

Reflection
In today’s Gospel, we heard Jesus talking about the fulfillment of the law. He reminded us that in everything
we do, it must be rooted in the greatest commandments; to love God and to love our neighbors just like how
we have loved ourselves. Therefore, as followers of God, let us ask ourselves, what is the purpose of living
by God’s laws?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Avenues and opportunities for self-propelled individual, collective and institutional life-
affirming action to respond to varied social issues must be provided in every Lasallian Institution.” Just like what Jesus did, He did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. Likewise, we are here not to hurt or be
above the law. We are here because God chose us to accompany each other to reach His Kingdom in
heaven. As Lasallians, we are challenged to set aside our selfish desires and thoughts that cause
brokenness, poverty, abuses, etc.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
