Matthew 5:27-30

Date posted: June 12, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 5:27-30
“You have heard that it was said, `You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks
at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to
sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body
be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you
lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

Reflection
Today’s gospel speaks about the importance of marriage. The sacrament of matrimony encourages
faithfulness and commitment. As they vowed to God and to the people of God, they accepted their
responsibilities that they are one, as husband and wife. In our lives, Jesus tells us to practice faithful and
responsible to each other to build a strong relationship with others and with God. Are we faithful to our
promise to God and to others? In what way we keep our promise to God and to others?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Avenues and opportunities for self-propelled individual, collective and institutional life-
affirming action to respond to varied social issues must be provided in every Lasallian institution.” God saved us with His unending and unconditional love. As a Lasallian who upholds its principles, we are God’s
shepherds who values life. “So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom”
(Psalm 90:12). We, as a community who works hand in hand, we are challenged to uplift the value of life, to
show our gratitude and respect to God who always blessed us despite of our weaknesses.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
