Matthew 5,43-48

Date posted: March 4, 2023

March 4, 2023 (Saturday)
Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 5,43-48
Jesus said to his disciples: “You have heard that it was said, you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Reflection:
The gospel talks about how our Heavenly Father commands us to love not only our neighbors but also our enemies. This Lenten season, it is our call to love. We love because as human beings, we were created out of God’s loving action to us and in return we must share this goodness to all despite of our differences, races, and cultures. When was the last time we showed kindness and love to others? How do we feel after sharing this kindness and love to others?

Lasallian Guiding Principle:
LGP states that, “As a member of a community, of the nation, and of the global village, Lasallian institutions must work in solidarity with people and institutions that share the conviction in denouncing and working towards the elimination of unjust practices…” The gospel tells us that we should be genuine and sincere to all. As Lasallians, it is our call on how we can express and apply the core values in our everyday lives. It is in this way that we can be good models of what a true Lasallian community is that was started by St. John Baptist de La Salle, our founder.

Prayer:
Synod on Synodality Prayer

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.

St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
