Matthew 8:23-26

Date posted: June 30, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 8:23-26
As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that
the boat was being swamped by waves; but he was asleep. They came and woke him, saying, “Lord, save
us! We are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?”

Reflection
The faith of Jesus’ disciples were tested during a violent storm. Their fear caught them that made them turn to Jesus and asked Him to save them. When we are in most difficult and fearful situations, we tend to doubt God’s presence and question why would God put us in this situation. Today, Jesus reminds us to trust God and have a strong faith even in such situations. We might not encounter God physically but He is always on our side guiding us. Have you been in such situation? How did your respond?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “The goal of social development interventions is to preserve and bring forth the fullness of life.” Integrity is an element of reverence for life. As Lasallians, it is our social responsibility to live our life with integrity so that we may not harm others with our actions. Our actions are always based on our beliefs. We are able to nurture life by being honest and compassionate. We are God’s instrument in giving hope and strength to those people who are hopeless and neglected in the society.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
