CLEAN HANDS: A RECIPE FOR HEALTH

January 14, 2019 | 1:47 pm

Have you ever thought of the health risks you and your family are exposed to just because we don’t wash our hands often enough?

Those kitchen sponges, cutting boards, phones, remote controls, keys, door knobs, and so many other things that our hands get in so much contact with at home and at work are prime sources of bacteria that can cause diseases! And imagine how we would be spreading those as we go from one task to another if we don’t wash our hands!

So, DLSUMC’s Infection Prevention and Control Office once again reminded the community that one of the recipes for good health is the simple act of washing our hands.

The call was made in celebration of Global Handwashing Day, an annual global celebration dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of handwashing which is one of the most effective and affordable ways to prevent common diseases.

DLSUMC’s Global Handwashing celebration was held on October 15 to 19 at the Medical Arts Center. Focused on this year’s theme “Clean Hands, a Recipe for Health,” IPCO also organized a booth where the five moments for hand hygiene for health professionals were highlighted to prevent transmission of infections in different facilities within the hospital.
