John 16:29-33

Date posted: June 3, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: John 16:29-33
His disciples said, “Ah, now you are speaking plainly, not in any figure!  Now we know that you know all things, and need none to question you; by this we believe that you came from God.”  Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?  The hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, every man to his home, and will leave me alone; yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.  I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Reflection
How did the disciples come to believe that Jesus is truly the Son of God sent from the eternal Father in heaven? When Jesus taught his disciples he often spoke in parables – using short stories and vivid images which expressed in picture language what God’s kingdom is like and how God’s power can change and transform our lives to be like him. These stories were intended to make his disciples reflect and think through the inner spiritual truths he wanted them to understand and accept. The Lord Jesus gives hope and strength to those who believe in him and trust in his word.

Lasallian Guiding Principles
LGP states that, zeal for service is a whole hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment.  St. John Baptist De La Salle is a true disciple of God.  He gave up his wealth just to help the poor, especially the young children.

One Heart Prayer
God, our Father, You love us with endless mercy. You call us to be your sons and daughters. You invite us to take care of the Earth, our common home. Lord, grant us a big heart. A heart always willing to love, a compassionate heart for those who suffer, a heart where there is a place for Lasallians all around the world. We make this prayer through the intercession of May, Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through the intercession of Saint John Baptist De La Salle, patron of teachers, Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
