John 1,45-51

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: John 1,45-51
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth.” But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him.” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.” And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

Reflection:
The gospel gives us an idea on how to become an evangelizer. Philip showed it to us. When his heart has been moved by that encounter with Jesus, he went ahead in sharing that experience with his friend. No arguments and no long persuasion were heard from Philip when Nathanael challenged him. Philip just said to Nathanael, “Come and see.” The experience itself is powerful enough to convince anyone. We just need to give that proper venue for such encounter to happen. In DLSMHSI, where do you encounter God? What have you done as an evangelizer of God in our community? (Lorenzo Alvin T. Capio)

LGP states that, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to unite one’s actions to the ongoing saving action of God in the world.” The gospel’s spirit urges us to assess our own character and actions. Through self-examination, we can evaluate whether our behaviors reflect the virtues taught by the gospel. This self-examination aids in identifying areas for personal growth and transformation. Synod on Synodality Prayer

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.

Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
