John 20:1-2, 11-18

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Name of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel John 20:1-2, 11-18
On the first day of the week,
Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark,
and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter
and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them,
“They have taken the Lord from the tomb,
and we don’t know where they put him.”
Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping.
And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb
and saw two angels in white sitting there,
one at the head and one at the feet
where the Body of Jesus had been.
And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”
She said to them, “They have taken my Lord,
and I don’t know where they laid him.”
When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there,
but did not know it was Jesus.
Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?
Whom are you looking for?”
She thought it was the gardener and said to him,
“Sir, if you carried him away,
tell me where you laid him,
and I will take him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary!”
She turned and said to him in Hebrew,
“Rabbouni,” which means Teacher.
Jesus said to her,
“Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.
But go to my brothers and tell them,
‘I am going to my Father and your Father,
to my God and your God.'”
Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples,
“I have seen the Lord,”
and then reported what he told her.

Reflection
In the Gospel, the manifestation of Jesus to Mary Magdalene teaches us to not giving up. How many times in our life in which everything disintegrate? It seems that everything is done. We encounter betrayals, sufferings and pain, disasters and so many things which may cause us to feel unworthy and lead to fall in to deep trouble. But in believing Jesus other things also happen, this can make us new hope and discover that love is greater than defeat and death.

Lasallian Guiding Principles
LGP states, “Lasallian works whatever their nature”. St. John Baptiste de La Salle encounter also struggles, betrayals, pain and sufferings. But because of his faith in God he did not give up, instead he kept working for the common good. Like our founder we too have crosses and trials sometimes we almost crushed us to the ground but we are not giving up. As Lasallians, our aim to help and educate others especially the lost, last and the least is stronger than the struggles that we encounter. In this we uphold the principle of common good.

ONE COMMITMENT PRAYER
Lord Jesus,
You love us all and make us your brothers and sisters.
You call us to follow you.
You invite us to announce the Good News.
Lord, grant us the courage to live our commitment.
Teach us to go beyond our borders.
Teach us to discover you in the lowliest
Teach us to see with the eyes of faith
Teach us to share our mission with all Lasallians
Throughout the whole world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary,
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools,
And through the intercession of St. John Baptist de la Salle,patron of teachers. Amen.

Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
