John 2:13-16

Date posted: November 9, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 2:13-16
The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers at their business. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all, with the sheep and oxen, out of the temple; and he poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; you shall not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”

Reflection
How do we make ourselves worthy of God’s kingdom? The gospel shows us how Jesus Christ proved to the disciples that he is indeed the Messiah who will cleanse the sins of the world and sacrifice himself for us. We are encouraged to stay humble and have a simple lifestyle. How do I prepare myself for the reign of God?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan.” We may carry out His saving plan by being humble and by liberating ourselves from excessive material needs. Like St. John Baptist De La Salle, he gave up his wealth and lived with his brothers to make them feel that they are one in their journey.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with a creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel.
Our inner life will grow
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
The intercession of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
