John 8:3-7

Date posted: March 30, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 8:3-7
The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the
midst they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the law Moses
commanded us to stone such. What do you say about her?” This they said to test him, that they might have
some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. And as they
continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to
throw a stone at her.”

Reflection
In the gospel, we heard Jesus who chose to forgive rather than to condemn the woman accused as a sinner.
In our lives, we also knew that we made a lot of mistakes and wrong decisions, therefore, we don’t have the
right to judge or condemn someone who does. It will be better if we will become a source of hope so that
he/she will never sin again. Let us pause for a moment and let us ask ourselves – How do we treat someone
who sins against us?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The LGP states that, “Zeal for service is a whole-hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity
and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment.” St. John Baptist de La Salle
reminds us that it is part of our mission to commit ourselves in the service of people, even though some
would accuse us wrongly. And now, as we fight against the threat of Covid19, we, Lasallians, are called to
become the source of strength and hope of other people, especially those who needs our help and
assistance.

Oratio Imperata on the Threat of the COVID-19 (CBCP)
God our Father,
we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us
and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked to find cure
for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
