Luke 11:15-26

Date posted: October 11, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11:15-26
But some of them said, "He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons"; while others, to test him, sought from him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil. He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. "When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest; and finding none he says, `I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.

Reflection
The gospel is all about the power of the finger of God. Jesus can defeat Beelzebul. We need to understand that God is the most powerful of all. He can drive out demons, can cure diseases and can perform other miracles at any time. Who can save us from being slaves of sin, and who can lead us to eternity? He is Jesus, and only Jesus. I pray that our faith may be stronger and our services to others will become more sincere. I also pray for the lost souls to be forgiven and that they may achieve peace, joy and contentment with Jesus.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principles, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. Jesus invites us not to lose our faith in his powers. He is mightier than Beelzebul. Saint John Baptist De La Salle was able to show love to the evildoers during his time. He defeated evil using good. The challenge for each Lasallians is how can we regrow our faith and how can we keep holding on to His mighty powers specially on times we really need inspiration in our studies.
