Luke 11:42-46

Date posted: October 16, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11:42-46
“But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. Woe to you Pharisees!
For you love the best seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market places. Woe to you!
For you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it.” One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you reproach us also.” And he said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.”

Reflection
Do you practice what you preach? With relation to the scripture, Jesus is angry with the Pharisees and the scholars of the law because many of them were full of pretension and hypocrisy. They command and teach the people to do this and that yet they themselves were not willing to do it. Let us not be like the Pharisees and the scholars of the law, let us mean what we say and live what we say. Let us be like Jesus who put into action every words and phrases that He said. I pray that when we go to church and worship God we do translate these to living acts of faith into actions.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principle, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. In relation to the gospel, we must not lose faith in God if we have sinned for He is forgiving God. What we should do is ask God for forgiveness and also for guidance for He cares and He listens. Pray and surrender to God all your worries and let God do his work. St. John Baptist De La Salle believes we should pray before starting whatever we need to do and the more we devote ourselves in prayer the more we will do well in our works. Let us not forget to seek God’s guidance for the devout guidance is in Him alone.
