Luke 11:5-13

Date posted: October 10, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11:5-13
And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, `Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Reflection
What can we expect from God, especially when we recognize that he doesn’t owe us anything and that we don’t deserve his grace and favor? The gospel is all about what we can be capable of as a person under His direction and power. Since we are all equally made in His eyes, we should offer everything we do for His glory and should not hesitate because everyone has its own purpose and goal to fulfill. We are not chosen according to our skills or abilities but on what we can be as we continually grow with Him. He always gives us challenges that He knows we can surpass. This serves as a lesson and a way to return on our way to know Him more and understand the purpose of each challenges given around us. I keep on praying that my faith be strengthen and may I be brave and wise to face my problems.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principles, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. We always seek for God’s help for us to know whether our plans is according to His will or our will. St. John Baptist De La Salle’s life was based on prayer and meditation. This helped him understand the will of God to him. His mission was to give free education for the poor. The challenge of each lasallians now is to be diligent in their work and to seek God’s will in their daily life.
