Luke 17: 1-6

Date posted: November 13, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 17: 1-6
Jesus said to his disciples, “Scandals will necessarily come and cause people to fall; but woe to the one
who has brought it about. It would be better for that one to be thrown into the sea with a millstone around
the neck. Truly this would be better for that person than to cause one of these little ones to fall.
“Be careful. If your brother offends you, rebuke him and if he is sorry, forgive him. And if he offends you
seven times in a day but says to you seven times: ‘I’m sorry,’ forgive him.”
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” And the Lord said, "If you have faith even the size of a mustard seed, you may say to this tree: ‘Be uprooted and plant yourself in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

Reflection
Jesus calls us to put our faith in Him. His greatness is unrivaled, and He always knows what is best for us. Often in our lives, we experience challenges and hardships. These are tests of our faith. Bad days will come, as these are unavoidable, but the more we think that we feel so unfortunate, the more we should hold on to our faith, to Jesus. Always keep in mind that there will be better days ahead. We simply have to trust in our Lord and Savior, as He will never forsake us.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The Lasallian Guiding Principle includes the following statement, “unite one’s actions to the ongoing saving action of God in the world.” In relation to the daily gospel, we have to stick to our own faith, making it grow for you will use it as an influence for other people uniting as one in following the footsteps of the Lord. Use one’s faith to grow and nurture other people’s life, having concern for other people who have done wrong in their life. As a Lasallian, our mission is to be concerned for each one’s faith, learn to forgive each one another and forget any past issues. Make them become one like you in serving the Lord.

Prayer
Lord, the giver of life, upon which we seek our refuge. Our hearts are restless until it rests in you. May Your love and guidance unite us all despite our indifferences, and help us to grow out of any form of hatred, grief, pain and anger towards others and to ourselves. For we know that You have orchestrated every moment of our lives, we entrust to you our paths and help us to forgive and let go of those who have hurt us, and to forgive ourselves from our own shortcomings. Lead us to a path that will help us grow so that we may nurture lives in accordance to our calling. Let your light shine upon us as we go on with our duties and helps to not loose our reverence for life in the process. Purify our souls from all the negativity in our past and to let go of grudges against our neighbors. All this we ask in the presence of our Savior. Amen.

Lasallian Prayer for Peace
We pray to you, O Lord,
God of life and God of those who hope!
Listen to our prayer for the whole world:
For peace among all peoples,
For prosperity in all lands.
We pray to you that evil may be overcome
And that all wars may end.
We pray to You especially for the members
Of our Lasallian Family,
Who suffer from war, injustice and intolerance,
And for children and young people who are poor ad neglected.
We pray too, God, for peace in our lives;
In our towns, in our schools,
In our families and in our own hearts.
We pray for a peace that the world cannot give us.
We pray for a peace that will make us whole
And transform us into ambassadors of justice for Your sake.
Lord, give us Your peace! Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
