Luke 2: 36-40

Date posted: December 30, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 2: 36-40
There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having
lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left
the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the Child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The Child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

Reflection
The gospel is about Anna who showed faithfulness and devoted her life to God. It tells us that just like Anna, we always have a choice in our life. Life is not only about being successful but it also talks about faithfulness to God. No matter how far we’ve come, let us not forget to give thanks to God and return the favor by helping others. When was the last time we uttered “thank you” to God? How often are we saying “thank you” to God in our prayers?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, “communion in mission as a way of relating to others suggests openness to all persons and the
desire to be brother or sister to all especially those in need.” SJBDL’s mission of building schools for the poor children would not have come to fulfilment without the help of the people he encountered along the way. As Lasallians, we are formed to carry out by our vision and mission in fulfilling God’s mission started by our founder. May we carry out our values and virtues as Lasallians in our everyday life.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with a creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel.
Our inner life will grow
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary

The intercession of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
