Luke 21:25-28,34-36

Date posted: December 2, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel:  Luke 21:25-28,34-36
“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” “But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare; for it will come upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth. But watch at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of man.”

Reflection
The scenario of the coming persecutions and natural disaster is gloomy, but nevertheless- it is a cause not for worry but for great joy. As believers of God, these events would indicate His return- and His return means the reign of justice as well as peace. God also reminds his people to watch for His return. Watching for His return means being spiritually ready and working faithfully at the tasks He has given us. As Lasallians, we must remember to live our life based on God’s will and ready to move at God’s command.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” As Lasallians, we must not let our mind and spirit be dulled by careless living or foolishly pursuing pleasure. Rather than being terrified by what is happening in our world, we must confidently await Christ’s return to bring justice as well as restoration. Thousands of years may have passed since He spoke these words, but the truth remains, Christ is coming again.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we ask for Your guidance as we prepare ourselves for the second coming of Your son Jesus Christ. Awaken our hearts that be able to serve You and be worthy of Your salvation. Purify and cleanse our mind and heartsss so we may avoid the wrong and be of service to the needy as we patiently await for our salvation. This we pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
