Luke 9:28b-36

Date posted: August 6, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lk 9:28b-36
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9,28b-36.
Jesus took Peter, John, and James and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep, but becoming fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here; let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking, a cloud came and cast a shadow over them, and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. They fell silent and did not at that time tell anyone what they had seen.

Reflection
The Gospel reminds us that prayer is an invitation to join Jesus in His own prayer with God. And when we pray, we take part in this great gift of prayer when “Jesus was transformed and appeared in his glory”.
In the Gospel it also reminds us that prayer is a time of silence and appreciate our blessings. Gods wants us to closely listen to the Chosen one, ”This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
How would you describe your prayer life over the past few months? How often do you incorporate Bible passages into your prayer life? What keeps you from prayer?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that our spirit of faith is “a spirit that allows one to trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting or discerning God’s will.” SJBDLS reminds us “The more you devote yourself in prayer the more you will do well in your work” (Med 95.1—Feast of St. Genevieve). We as Lasallians should always be immersed in prayer as we experience God’s presence in our daily life. A Lasallian we nurture our relationship with God through prayers.
