Luke 9:7-9

Date posted: September 26, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9:7-9
Now Herod the ruler heard about all that had taken place, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead, by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the ancient prophets had arisen. Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.

Reflection
Who is Jesus? The gospel is about Herod listening to the preaching a teaching of Jesus. Herod does not know how to place himself before Jesus. He had killed John the Baptist and now he wants to see Jesus closer. Through the gift of grace we can know Jesus, and our prayer is our communication with a friend, not with an acquaintance. We may think that it’s hard to acknowledge the novelty of Jesus, and sometimes may end up reducing him to an impersonation of somebody we know or have heard about. I pray to be constantly open to the miracles and mystery of Jesus, for me to know him better. May we recognize Him in the moments of grace, challenges and obstacles that come our way. May we also be open to see Him in other people we serve.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, The spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan. The Lasallians nurture their belief in the loving presence of God in our world. Lasallian students have deep faith and awareness of having a relationship with God. Having a strong faith with our Lord can strengthen our mind, determination, passion. A true disciple has a faith-filled desire to know Jesus and to grow in an ever- deepening relationship with him.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with a creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel
Our inner life will grow.
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
The intercession of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, patrons of teachers. Amen
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
