Mark 10, 35-45

Gospel: Mark 10, 35-45
According to the gospel of St. Mark: “Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said tom him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” He replied, “What do you wish (me) to do for you?” They answered him, “Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left.” Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” They said to him, “We can.” Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink, you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John.
Jesus summoned them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt.
But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.
For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Reflection
The gospel entitled “Mark 10, 35-25”, explains how Jesus handled his disciples by putting them in the right track. He does not want anyone from them to become his right or left hand because he’s not the type of person who orders everyone around. Also, Jesus do not like the idea of having a full authority to rule everyone. That is why in the end of this gospel, he stated that his purpose is to serve everyone in his life not the other way around. Jesus does not abuse his power but use it for the good. Is there still someone like Him who do the right thing? Who does things for the sake of everyone?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting God’s will.” It explains and show that believing or having faith in God, creates this opportunity in ourselves to find our way in him to discover how great is His love for us. This will lead to enlightenment that the spirit of faith empowers everyone by strengthening their beliefs and by putting his will in every action that we’ll take. By doing this, we’ll be able to promote and share this kind of feeling to everyone. In addition, this may lead to life transform of a person that will change their perspective about their faith in God.

Prayer
Our Father in heaven, please guide us and help everyone who needed you the most right now. Provide us the wisdom and clarity to discern the good and the bad things that we are not aware of, for us to be able to avoid the danger that we may encounter. Lord, give us the strength to overcome the struggles in our life and show us the path of goodness in every act that we will take. May you remind us to do the things that may contribute for the betterment of our society and by opening the hearts of everyone to not abuse their authority. May all the people treat everyone with respect and used our privilege to help those people who needed one.
And lastly, God, thank you for the blessing that you’ve given us. This we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer
Lord, we ask for guidance in giving us the strength of conquering our failures everyday. We may always be shaky and fearful but deep within our hearts our faith is enveloped with overflowing love and trust. We trust on your plan more than we trust our most delicate plans; at the end of the day, we surrender everything to Your name. We ask for Your loving presence to understand our sins and that we are far from perfect but with You, we feel saved. Help us to carry out your plan and to deliver ourselves to the best of our ability. AMEN.

Lasallian Prayer for Peace
We pray to you, O Lord,
God of life and God of those who hope!
Listen to our prayer for the whole world:
For peace among all peoples,
For prosperity in all lands.
We pray to you that evil may be overcome
And that all wars may end.
We pray to You especially for the members
Of our Lasallian Family,
Who suffer from war, injustice and intolerance,
And for children and young people who are poor ad neglected.
We pray too, God, for peace in our lives;
In our towns, in our schools,
In our families and in our own hearts.
We pray for a peace that the world cannot give us.
We pray for a peace that will make us whole
And transform us into ambassadors of justice for Your sake.
Lord, give us Your peace! Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
