Mark 1:40-45

Date posted: January 17, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Mark 1:40-45
And a leper came to him beseeching him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. And he sternly charged him, and sent him away at once, and said to him, “See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to the people.” But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter.

Reflection
When a leper came to Jesus and begged him to be clean, Jesus didn’t hesitate to stretch out his hand and touched him even though he knew that lepers should be avoided because anybody who touched him would also become impure. After healing the leper, Jesus said “See you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded”. The man still spread the news to everyone without even thinking and knowing the consequences that he might cause. In every actions that we make we should be mindful because it may affect to the feelings of others. Can we be mindful to all the actions that we or we just do or follow God’s will?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” Remember the saying “no man is an island”, we must always keep in mind that in order to thrive, one should have a companion to achieve greater things. Communion as a mission is a goal of mission creates good relationships with God and others. With this, we become channels of God’s Good News to all and that everyone will experience a better life. It also strengthens one’s faith and belief that God will make ways for us to be happy and contended.

Prayer
Dear God the Father in heaven who always looks for us in everything that we do and guides us to every path that we take. We are not worthy of your miracle yet you never close your door for us sinners. You heal every piece of us with your love and you shower us with your miracles and blessings. Thank you for your unconditional and endless love for us. We will continuously praise you in calmness and even in storms for we know that you are always here with us. Forgive us for we hurt you always. This we pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
