Mark 2:13-17

Date posted: January 19, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Mark 2:13-17
“Jesus went out along the sea. All the crowd came to him and he taught them. As he passed by, he saw Levi, son of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him. Some scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors and said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus heard this and said to them (that), “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

Reflection
We, the sons and daughters of God, are called to share the word of the Lord. God gave us the authority to proclaim His message. We are not ordinary people, we are His disciples. Every Sunday we go to church to pray and to listen to Him. We put in our daily lives what He wanted us to be. He wanted us to be the good persons, He wanted us to have a good life. He wanted a nice world for us to live in. He wants us to realize the consequences are from decisions that we make. We might regret our choices but God will never leave us. In order to find the right path, we need to follow Jesus’ path, He has plans for us, we just need to wait for the right time. As long as we follow him, we will never go astray. We may wonder why things happen but He has many reasons for it that sometimes we don’t realize but someday we will. We should encourage others to listen to the good news since we were called to proclaim. As we grow up, we’ll look back over our lives and realize that everyday we have God by our side. We should not forget to pray and thank Him for giving the blessings we already had and what will come. When was the last time we inspire other people to follow Jesus?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” As Lasallians, we are called to be one in spreading the good news of the Lord. In this gospel, we are taught to reach out for people who need help, on the wrong path and slowly going away far from Him. As Jesus has said, he did not call the righteous but sinners. Jesus will always open his doors for us and accept us for who we are. Thus, we do not judge other people rather we welcome each one as members of one community of God’s sons and daughters. We are also called to be one in leading others back to His path. We tell that it’s not too late to follow Him for we are all equal and always welcome if we decide to go back to Him. This is our mission, live our lives patterned to the life of our founder and serve as an inspiration to others.

Prayer
Our Heavenly Father, majestic and extravagant, we humbly ask for your healing and mercy. Thank You Jesus for your word. Thank you for loving us, unconditionally. Thank You also Jesus for reminding us that You came for each and everyone of us. We are all sinners, help us understand that You’ll accept us no matter what. Through Your Words, may we always remember that the more difficulties we have, the more we become closer to You oh God. We will always be thankful for all the things that happens to us because we believe that it is your Holy Will. Please teach our hearts to be faithful in You in whatever situation we may face. Help us to let others understand that You will accept them no matter what, that in You, there is an endless hope, peace and forgiveness. Please use us to spread your word and bring back all the lost souls in Your kingdom. This we pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist De La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
