Mark 3:1-6

Date posted: January 23, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Mark 3:1-6
“Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there who had a withered hand. And they watched him, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. And he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Come here.” And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. The Pharisees went out, and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.”

Reflection
The Gospel is very relatable with our present era and it wants us to understand that doing good must not just occur at specific times. Showing compassion to our fellow human should come from our own hearts. Our world today needs to realize that we can make our society better by improving ourselves. We can never have the progress that we want if we, ourselves, do not know what are the right things to do for others. On the other hand, judgement must not be done by anyone based on what our naked eyes can see. Seek through from the doer’s heart so you may know what his or her true intentions are. How can love and compassion be measured in our present society?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” The founder has never been one to shy away from the challenges that have been presented to him and he’s never been one to avoid these challenges but instead in everything that De la Salle does, he does in the name of the Lord. De la Salle has once said to take pride in your ministry and just like what is stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principle sharing one vision, one spirit, and one mission is an exemplary way to show one’s service and faith to the Lord. Communion is often used to share different ideas and thoughts with other people, in this case Communion is shown as a way of accomplishing God’s mission, by sharing thoughts, ideas, spirit, vision, and mission we are uniting as fellow followers of the Lord to share and rejoice in the Lord’s grace.

Prayer
Dear Jesus, we thank You for teaching us how to act obediently in God’s commandments especially at times of acting and showing goodness for the better of the people in our surroundings without hesitations and doubts. We also thank you for showing us how to be kind to everyone. May we do good things to our brothers and sisters that really come from our hearts. We will forever cherish You and your teachings. This we pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
