Mark 6:7-13

Date posted: February 7, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Mark 6:7-13.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick –no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Reflection
In the Gospel, Jesus sent out His disciples to have authority over unclean spirits. It was said that whenever the people don’t listen to them, they should leave. And it was God saying that someone who listens is someone who loves. God always listens to us even we are at our lowest. He hears our mourn and give us the love that we deserve, all we need is to entrust all our worries to Him. If an unseen God is listening to us all the time, what shall we do for those people we see who wanted their voice to be heard?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Lasallian institutions must strive to develop among its members greater recognition of the realities of human suffering and the stewardship role that each shares in preserving the integrity of God’s creation and creating a humane and just society” (p.20-21). It is our duty and responsibility to be compassionate to each other, to love other people as we love Him and to treat people equally – blood related or not. We, humans, normally experience problems and sometimes the best way we heal from it is to have people or even someone gives sympathy in our soul. It is our experiences that shape our being and it is a gift that we should share to others, the lessons we discuss from our experiences. With St. John Baptist de La Salle as our role model, we should instill in ourselves the Lasallian values on helping the lost, the last and the least. Just like St. La Salle teaching the underprivileged, we Lasallians should also give back to the community through our quality education.

Prayer
Loving God, grant us the courage and enough love to give for the lost, the last and the least. Pray for our own lives that we may endure your challenges and be able to help each other. For those people who silently experience hardships, give them the power to speak up and promote love. This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
