Mt 26:20-25

Date posted: April 5, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mt 26:20-25
When it was evening, he reclined at table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, “Amen, I
say to you, one of you will betray me.” Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after
another, “Surely it is not I, Lord?” He said in reply, “He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me is
the one who will betray me. The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by
whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had never been born.” Then Judas,
his betrayer, said in reply, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” He answered, “You have said so.”

Reflection
Jesus’ salvific mission was predicted in today’s gospel. This presents the betrayal of Judas Iscariot and the
institution of the Last Supper together with Twelve disciples in preparation for the completion of Jesus’ salvific
mission for all. The sacraments He instituted will purify us because He knew our weaknesses and limitations.
Jesus’ sacrifice is the most visible sign of love and compassion of God to humanity despite its imperfections
and weaknesses. What are we willing to sacrifice for Jesus on this season of Lent? Why?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Zeal is the active expression of faith in gospel witness and service.” In relation to the
gospel, our LGP reminds us to be faithful to our mission especially to the poor as ambassadors of Christ and
St. La Salle. As Lasallians, we are challenged to be loyal and passionate in the mission of our Institution.
May we be a the modern St. La Salle to everyone and return every blessing to God for we are serving others
for the good of the mission and not for recognition.

Oratio Imperata on the Threat of the COVID-19 (CBCP)
God our Father,
we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us
and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked to find cure
for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
