St. Matthew 11,28-30

Date posted: July 18, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: St. Matthew 11,28-30
Jesus said to the crowds: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Reflection
There is a story of a man who once met a boy carrying a smaller crippled lad on his back. “That’s a heavy load you
are carrying there,” exclaimed the man. “He ain’t heavy; he is my brother!” responded the boy. Hearing that answer,
the man left with a heavy heart for he realized that everything is light if you laid your life to someone you valued most and he did not. There is no such thing as too heavy when it is given in love and carried out of love. Jesus is reminding us that he is carrying us all throughout because of his great love for us and so, let us be a brother and sister to one another as the boy said, ‘he ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.’

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As we nurture ourselves with reverence for life, LGP once again calls us to go back to the heart of the mission i.e. to recognize Jesus beneath the poor rags of the children and all the people around us. No matter who and what they are, we should show authentic care, love and compassion as our founder and even our Lord did during their time. They left a living example for us to contemplate and emulate in our everyday dealings. This is a constant challenge for all of us i.e. to promote unconditional positive regard for the human person by upholding the principle of the common good.

Prayer
ONE COMMITMENT PRAYER
Lord Jesus,
You love us all and make us your brothers and sisters.
You call us to follow you.
You invite us to announce the Good News.
Lord, grant us the courage to live our commitment.
Teach us to go beyond our borders.
Teach us to discover you in the lowliest
Teach us to see with the eyes of faith
Teach us to share our mission with all Lasallians
Throughout the whole world.

We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary,
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools,
And through the intercession of St. John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
