John 21:18-19

Date posted: May 29, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 21:18-19
(Jesus) said to him, “Feed my sheep. Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to
dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and
someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” He said this signifying by what
kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”

Reflection
The Gospel talks about selfless love for the welfare of others. In these difficult times, love shall prevail
against all challenges in our life. Just like the song from ABS-CBN, “pag-ibig ang hihilom sa daigdig, pag-
ibig lang” (love will heal the world, only love) and “don’t share the hate and scare, spread never-ending
love and care,” showing care and love to others can save others’ lives. How can a simple smile make a big
impact?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Zeal is the expression of faith in service to human need.” As Lasallians, we are the
future health care professionals who are taught to be of service to others through our core value, Zeal for
Service. We are trained to take care of the overall well-being of the people especially the poor and the
youth at risk. “Rescue the weak and the needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked” (Psalm 82:4).
Now, we are convinced that we need to make sure that safety and health prevail in these difficult times.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
