Luke 10, 38-42

Date posted: October 6, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 10, 38-42
Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that
my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.”
The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”

Reflection
The gospel tells us on the two angles of Christian life – action and contemplation. Martha prefigures action while Mary shows
the contemplation. And to measure, Mary’s part becomes more intense since listening part is higher value than Martha’s
action. Action without faith is useless. It needs to see which higher priorities in life than actions are. What are your main
priorities? How do you prioritize conflicting values like family and work matters?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, the “spirit of faith provides an opportunity to discover God’s dynamic presence through his Words…”
Listening is primarily the core of God’s initiative in us. As Lasallians, we really need to listen first on the voice of God, before
we execute decisions in our lives. Contemplating comes the higher value than executing a particular thing. Let us imitate
Mary, on choosing the better part. And that all things will be done according to His plan.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
